Peaceful and friendly city with adorable cats everywhere. The beach is very clean and better than in Jūrmala. There is more activities to do on the beach here. Jūrmala beach is more crowded but more long and shallow. Ventsps is safe, not so crowded and nice parks for children to play in. A treasure to explore. Where are everyone?

Very beautiful city with plenty of sculptures and places to visit. It has many parks, museums. Beach is very well structured - different places for swimmers and surfers. Ventspils is great! Good looking, well kept town.
Ventspils is great! Good looking, well kept town. Lovely seaside park for walks (my personal favorite), sea to swim, great open-space museum with historical building, castle. Friendly to kids, there are several ships docked in the town and in the open-space museum where you can climb onboard and explore. Calm, feels totally safe. Nice places to eat.

Ventspills is a sea-port, ferries to Sweden from here. The town is very picturesque easily walkable because of it's size. Of particular note was every open space was either or both lawned and planted with amazing floral displays, most street corners conical high and wide flowers bursting with vibrant colours. Even the middle of the roads planted with flowers, the surrounds of public housing blocks having planters and even sculptures everywhere. Early in the morning I could hear the grass mowers, see the workers attending the flower beds and even a woman, pushing a wheelie bin along the pavement and stopping occassionaly to pick up a piece of litter that had been dropped. The whole town so clean and tidy. I arrived a week after the season had ended, it was rain and sunshine, so few if any tourists. few bars or restuarants appeared to be open. Of note was the abundance of finger sighnage boards on most junctions written in Latvian and English, impossible to get lost. Directions to WCs in large letters throughout the town. The pavements and roads well cared for, I witnessed no pot-holes, cracked or broken pavements. In summary the cleanest, prettiest most well maintained place in all of Latvia.yettocUnited Kingdom - 10Scored 10

Ventspils is the perfect destination for families with children. There are countless activities for children (and parents) and more than enough to explore, especially mentioning the Vizium, the beach, the adventure park, the water parks and the amazing children`s park in the city!

One of te nicest seaside towns I've visited.
One of te nicest seaside towns I've visited. Clean and peaceful with lots of parks and old buildings. And of course very modern science museum! It was real pleasure to be there. And remember - find all cows ;-)

I liked that all the rooms had very large windows that being on the top floor, I could open both windows wide. The hotel was quiet and peaceful. The shower was excellent. The room was clean as was the bedding. Was surprised at how fast and quiet the elevator was, really! Plus a pizza takeaway on the same premises and an electric mobility hire shop too. Overlooked a huge park area, everywhere in this town, a feast of ornamental flower displays, not a green space left unattended.yettocUnited Kingdom

Anni is very friendly and helpful and the house is cosy and very clean. The decoration is wonderful wit many interesting ornaments and the garden is beautifully kept with lots of interesting statues and is a great place to relax to eat something or have a dink protected from the elements. We got a huge room for 4 people (even with an added crib) for only €45, but we were fully aware of why it was cheap (no breakfast included, shared toilet/bath). But for that price, it was absolutely worth the money.
