Bernati is a calm village. There is only one cafe in Bernati (and another one next to the main road), so we found it most comfortable to prepare our own food at the place we stayed. Liepaja is 20 km drive away and can be an alternative option. Unlike many other places in this region, Bernati is reachable along the paved road, which is important. We liked the forest separating the village and the sea; there are a lot of walking paths in the forest.

Bernati is a very convenient place to go to for a quiet walk in the woods or along the beach. There are a couple of little restaurants that offer good food for a reasonable price. The trails that wind through the park are easy to navigate by foot or by bicycle (and even with baby strollers!), and there are plenty of them so that you do not feel like you are just repeating yourself as you explore. The beach is quiet and provides a good place for children to play.
